Founding Edition rules

1. Registration and the qualifying activity window
Registration may open before the qualifying activity window. Registering early does not allow an earlier activity to qualify. Only activities completed within the Founding Edition window count.
2. Complete one 5 km activity
Complete one activity of at least 5 km from 31 October 2026 through 3 January 2027. The distance cannot be accumulated across multiple activities.
3. Run, jog or walk
The Founding Edition is intentionally accessible. Running, jogging, walk-running and walking count. Outdoor and treadmill activities are accepted.
4. Complete it anywhere
BitcoinRun is a global participation movement. Choose a safe, lawful route or treadmill wherever you are.
5. Invite someone
BitcoinRun encourages participants to get someone else moving too. Invitation is part of the movement idea, but it is not a requirement for Founding Finisher status.
6. Submit reasonable evidence
Submit evidence showing the date and distance of the same single activity. Accepted sources can include recognised running/fitness apps, GPS watches, connected fitness platforms or a treadmill display. You must attest that the activity is your own and that you completed the required distance yourself. BitcoinRun may ask for clarification where evidence is incomplete.
7. Review and acceptance are required
BitcoinRun reviews submitted evidence for reasonable confirmation of completion. Your completion must be accepted before Founding Finisher status is awarded. Duplicate, altered, implausible or insufficient submissions may be rejected. Remote evidence cannot guarantee that an activity could not have been falsified.
8. Founding Finisher recognition
Accepted finishers receive a Founding Finisher number and digital certificate for the Founding Edition. The final edition size is determined by the number of accepted finishers. There is no invented participant cap.
9. Founding Teams and company routes
Participants may join independently, through a free Founding Team created by a community, club or informal group, or through a company Movement Pack joining route. Each organiser route may use a dedicated registration link or QR. Organiser reporting uses aggregate registration, email-confirmation and accepted-finisher data; participant contact details and proof files are not exposed to organisers.
10. Optional shop, apparel and physical collectibles
BitcoinRun participation is free. Apparel, the Founding Edition medal, the pendant and any other shop items are optional and may be available independently of challenge completion. Buying or receiving a product does not create Founding Finisher status, affect proof review or improve an achievement number.
Your Founding Finisher number belongs only to the accepted achievement and certificate. Medal and pendant serials are separate production or collector identifiers and do not change or replace the achievement number.
Product renders or design visuals are identified as such until manufactured samples are confirmed. Current product price, availability, pre-order or dispatch status, shipping charge, taxes/duties and applicable return conditions are shown through the relevant product and checkout flow before purchase.
11. Safe participation
Take part only if the activity is appropriate for you and your circumstances. Obey local laws, traffic rules, weather guidance and venue requirements. Stop if you feel unwell or unsafe.
12. The Founding Edition happens once
The Founding Edition opens for qualifying activity on 31 October 2026 and the qualifying activity window closes on 3 January 2027. Later participants can take part in future BitcoinRuns, but they cannot go back and become part of the Founding Edition.
