BitcoinRun · Founding Edition

THE FOUNDING NOTE

Why I’m starting BitcoinRun — in my own words.

Why I’m starting this

Running is a blessing. When you get into it, you can get completely hooked. There are moments when you feel like you’re flying and almost forget the physical effort.

I’ve run marathons, finished the Marathon des Sables, taken part in shorter races and done many simple runs and walks. For me, it has never really been about performance. It is about how moving makes you feel.

I’ve also organised many running and sports events over the years. The people who inspired me most were often not the fastest. They were people who, alongside their work and everyday lives, gave their time to encourage others to move, feel better and take care of their health.

A poster might catch your attention. But very often someone starts because another person simply says:

come with me.

That is the spirit behind BitcoinRun.

What is BitcoinRun?

BitcoinRun exists to get the Bitcoin community moving — and to get others moving too.

It is an invitation to Bitcoin adopters, believers and everyone who feels part of the Bitcoin family to step away from the screen, move, and encourage someone else to move with them.

The idea is deliberately simple.

Move. Encourage someone else to move. Recognise the effort.

Run it. Prove it. Earn it.

The Founding Edition

BitcoinRun begins on 9 September 2026.

For the Founding Edition, the challenge is simple: complete one 5 km activity anywhere before 31 December 2026.

Run it. Jog it. Walk it.

There is no pace requirement and participation is free.

Submit reasonable evidence of your activity and confirm that it is your own. We review the submission and, when your completion is accepted, you become a BitcoinRun Founding Finisher.

You receive your Founding Finisher number and certificate recognising your place in the first BitcoinRun.

But the Founding Edition is about more than completing 5 km.

It is about the early believers who help start BitcoinRun — people who move themselves, encourage others to move and help the movement begin.

Companies and communities can play the same role by creating Founding Teams and getting their people moving.

Their place in the Founding Edition becomes part of the story of how BitcoinRun started.

Move yourself. Get others moving.

Your own 5 km is the challenge.

But BitcoinRun is also about what happens around it.

Invite someone to run, jog or walk with you. Encourage a friend, colleague, family member or someone in your community to get moving too.

You do not need to bring anyone else to become a Founding Finisher.

The invitation is part of the mission, not a condition of the achievement.

The point is not to recruit people. The point is to get people moving.

The achievement comes first

You do not need to buy anything.

Completing the challenge and becoming a Founding Finisher is the achievement.

We are developing optional physical Founding Edition collectibles. Final production details, availability and pricing will only be announced once confirmed.

A physical object can commemorate the achievement.

It cannot replace it.

You can buy the object. You cannot buy the achievement.

This is the beginning

We do not know yet how many people will join, how many will finish, how many companies or communities will take part, or how far the idea will spread.

And that is part of what makes this the Founding Edition.

We are starting with something simple and real, and we will learn from what actually happens.

When the Founding Edition closes, we will share what happened honestly — real participation, real completions and real movement.

Later people will be able to take part in future BitcoinRuns.

But they will not be able to go back and help start the first one.

Move yourself. Get others moving.

Run it. Prove it. Earn it.
